My Demons Series

Just as the sun, falling at a certain angle onto a kitchen grater, can bring forth a demon, 
so do our own demons bring our defiant strength to light.

Unplanned and emergent, this conceptual photography series by mangomewn documents eighteen brief manifestations of light taking form.
Rather than seeking images, the work arises from observing the moment in which light organizes itself into something visible — a single instant of perception, held before it disappears again.
A conceptual investigation,
touching on chance, providence, archaic echoes,
inside / outside,
time, transience, what can be held,
and the split-second mechanics of perception.
